PRESS STATEMENT
WORLD – RENOWNED GENOCIDE WATCH ACCUSES WESTERN CAPE CIVIC ORGANISATION OF RACISM.
For humankind to strive for a semblance of normality and peace we have certain international laws and declarations of which one of the most important is the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS (art. 1), adopted by General Assembly resolution 217 A (III) of 10 December 1948, which inter alia states:
“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted and proclaimed by the General Assembly
as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among, the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction”.
Article 2, sets out the basic principle of equality and non-discrimination as regards the enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and forbids “distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
Genocide Watch was founded in 1999 by Dr Gregory H Stanton and as an organisation reporting on international abuses of human rights and in particular genocides, Genocide Watch gained the respect and trust of many to be a true champion for human rights.

CapeXit NPO was registered on 31 January 2018 to promote the human rights of all the peoples of the Western Cape under Article 1 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and more so under the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights which states in Article 20:
1. All peoples shall have the right to existence. They shall have the unquestionable and inalienable right to self- determination. They shall freely determine their political status and shall pursue their economic and social development according to the policy they have freely chosen.
The RSA government signed this Charter on 16 March 2004 and it was ratified on 17 December 2004.
CapeXit NPO is a Western Cape-based civic organisation which has as its mission the independence of the Western Cape for all who live within and by their rights under international law.

As the genocide of a minority is one of CapeXit’s main concerns and this status of genocide is portrayed by Genocide Watch, the organisation reached out to Genocide Watch and its affiliated organisation Alliance Against Genocide (AAG) to become a member. On 10 September 2023, with Dr Stanton’s knowledge, CapeXit was admitted as a member of the AAG. The organisation’s name appeared on the website of the AAG at that time. Shortly afterwards it was noted that CapeXit’s name was removed from their website and on questioning this the organisation received an e-mail on 13 September 2023 from Dr Stanton personally saying it was an oversight as they do not allow secessionist movements as members. CapeXit questioned this as the strive for secession was a fundamental human right, however, we accepted it although in the face of being an unfair classification for membership.
In the interim to date CapeXit remained on the AAG’s mailing list for their newsletter. In their newsletter of December 2023, the following appeared as part of their report on South Africa:

South Africa still is a product of British colonial and apartheid policies instituted by the white supremacist government. Police brutality is rampant, with almost 400 deaths, 124 cases of rape, and 270 cases of torture in 2019 alone. Xenophobic attacks on African immigrants, as well as murders of white farmers, continue with impunity.

Thank you for your newsletter.
I read this extract in your report on South Africa:
How can you possibly say SA “still is a product of apartheid”?
We’ve had 29 years of ANC rule. This new democracy had more than enough time to prove itself, which of course it did not. The way this is written makes it sound like the “white supremacist
government” is still in charge. Kindly correct this to state that a black ANC government has been in charge since 1994 and is responsible for the horrific crime statistics.
We would like to see this correction otherwise we will have to take this public.

Not only does he accuse the organisation CapeXit of being racist, but he also accuses one of its directors of being a racist.
As a well-respected international organisation, noted by governments and decision-makers alike, it is with profound sadness that we have to wonder how one can say you are standing up for human rights on the one hand, yet racially denying the very same rights to some.
